Crocuses grow from bulb-like corms. They are one of the first of the spring flowering bulbs to emerge and provide much needed early nectar sources for bees on warm late winter days as well as some much needed colour and brightness after the long winter.
They are good in borders and containers or naturalise well in lawns, but make sure you let them provide for next years flowers before mowing off the leaves with the grass.
