Soft Fruit doesn't travel well. The best are those that travel the shortest distances

Blackberries - Blackberry Plants
Soft Fruits

  • Hardy shrub

  • Flower: May-June

  • Harvest: July-September

(flowering and fruiting time is variety dependent)

So many shop bought fruits are selected primarily for their ability to withstand travel from plant to shop and to have a long shelf life. This doesn't equate to being the tastiest, carrying them to the house is quicker and you'll be gentler assuming you haven't eaten it already, this mean they will taste so much better!
