Shrub - V

Judd Viburnum  £10.95

Position:   full sun or partial shade. Soil:  moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Rate of growth:  average. Flowering period:  April and May. Flower colour:  white. Other features:  red fruits, in autumn, which can cause a mild stomach ache if ingested. Hardiness:  fully hardy. Almost spherical clusters of fragrant, pink-tinted white flowers opening from pink buds in April and May and oval, dark green leaves, sometimes turning red in autumn. This deciduous, spring-flowering viburnum is excellent for a partially shady site with moist, well-drained soil. Rounded and compact in habit, it's perfect for where border space is limited. Garden care:  After flowering lightly cut back established specimens, pruning any misplaced shoots that spoil the symmetry of the plant.

Shrubby Veronica  £7.95

Position:   full sun or partial shade. Soil:  poor or moderately fertile, moist, well-drained neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Rate of growth:  average. Flowering period:  June and July. Hardiness:  frost hardy (needs winter protection in cold areas)Lilac-blue summer flowers appear on short spikes, fading to white, among grey-green leaves with narrow red margins and veining when young. This small, spreading, evergreen shrub makes an attractive low, informal hedge or edging plant for a mixed border. In an urban or coastal site, it needs protection from cold, drying winds. Garden care:  Needs minimal pruning. Remove misplaced or frost damaged branches in late spring.
